The Cell and Developmental Biology (CDB) Program is focused on the basic mechanisms of cellular and organismal organization, the gene regulatory networks governing cellular developmental events and morphogenesis, and the relevance of these topics to disease.
The mission of the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology is to create a graduate program dedicated to providing rigorous training in experimental cell and developmental biology.
We strive to prepare the next generation of scientists to make ground-breaking discoveries in these subjects.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Cell and Developmental Biology (CDB) Program is housed in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology and includes faculty mentors from other departments.
It is part of the larger Biomedical Sciences Program.
Through the Graduate College, the Cell and Developmental Graduate Program offers a curriculum leading to the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.).
Admission to graduate training in laboratories in the Anatomy and Cell Biology Department mainly occurs through:
- The Cell Developmental and Biology program
- The Interdisciplinary Graduate Programs
Uncommonly, admission does occur through direct admission into a specific laboratory.
Diversity & Inclusion
The University of Iowa and the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology is committed to fostering an environment that embraces the diversity of our members and provides equitable access to people of different races, ethnicities, genders, ages, sexual orientations, physical and neurocognitive abilities, religions and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.
